BRICKIES’ manager Jamie Kay was rightly proud of his side after Saturday’s 4-1 win at Alresford - but acknowledged that the penalty save by Lloyd Thomas just before half time, when the lead was only 1-0, was “a massive moment”. Beyond that the manager was pleased that while things were going well up front, the defence was playing its part as well. He said: “We limited Alresford to very few chances in open play - and we carried a real threat going forward. It was great to see a number of players contributing to the goals, and four different scorers. Seeing Cal McHale back on the scoresheet is really pleasing - his return from that long injury lay-off is going well and you can see he is getting back to his old self, improving week on week.” The boss was also pleased with the way his side controlled the game. He added: “We managed the key moments well and showed real quality. We could even have scored more goals in the last 15 minutes - we ended with a real flourish. Most important of all, though, that’s back-to-back League wins after a slight drop in results.” Next up for the Brickies is a home date with Colden Common on Saturday. A reminder for fans that the scheduled match at Newport IoW tomorrow (Tuesday) has been postponed.
