BRICKIES (AND MANY OTHERS) BEATEN BY THE WEATHER

TO nobody's real surprise, today's Wessex League Division One match between New Milton Town and Folland Sports has had to be postponed because of 'Storm Boelo'. With strong winds forecast and 100pc chance of rain from mid-day to midnight, the late morning pitch and stadium inspection was a formality. The playing surface itself might just have stood two hours of football, but in the weather conditions, it was felt unfair - and possibly unsafe - for spectators to attend. Elsewhere many other matches at our level were also called off. Next match now for the Brickies will be the huge FA Vase second round match at Downton next Saturday (31st). The next home match will be a Wessex League date with Romsey Town on Saturday November 7th. It will be Romsey's second trip here this season - earlier they had to switch their "home" fixture to the GD Print Stadium because of difficulties, at that time, with their floodlights.
