BRICKIES HOPING TO TAKE LEAGUE FORM INTO THE CUP

IN amongst all the excitement of their League form, with that explosive four-out-of-four start, the Brickies hit the cup trail again tonight with a visit to the Dorset County Ground to meet Hamworthy United in the Wessex League Cup. United play in the same division as New Milton but have made an indifferent start, without a win yet in five matches, and just two draws to show for their efforts. Tonight however they will be trying to impress new manager Tom Lanham, who has taken over from Micky Hubbard. Also on their bench will be new assistant manager Chris Whalen, who has moved to Hamworthy from Swanage and Herston. One oddity about New Milton's Cup exploits this season is that so far they have not had a home tie. In the Hampshire Senior Cup, it was a best forgotten night at Cowes Sports, now Hamworthy, then the really important one, away to Baffins Milton Rovers in the FA Vase on Saturday September 12th. And in the Russell-Cotes Cup, the Brickies have come out of the hat away to Clanfield on a date to be announced. That only leaves the Southampton Senior Cup, where it seems inevitable we will be away again!
