BRICKIES OFF TO A FLYER!

PRE-SEASON started with a five-goal bang for the Brickies who gave 21 players a run-out in the first friendly of the schedule, away to Moneyfields Reserves. And whichever squad you thought might be stronger, the first half unit came in 2-0 up at half-time, while the second-half line-up, with plenty of our promising Under23s, completed the job winning their half 3-0. So 5-0 in the end, and plenty for manager Jamie Kay to smile about. The opposition was perhaps not as strong as some the team will encounter when the Wessex League season gets under way, but you can only beat what is put in front of you, and the Brickies did that comprehensively. The honour of scoring the first goal of the season went to Harry Swager after just eight minutes. In another eight minutes it was 2-0, Heath Thornton rounding off a shot from Jake Carswell. It was Joe Roberts who caught the eye in the second half, scoring the third after 79 minutes and the fourth ten minutes later. There was still time for a debut goal for Alfie Stokes to round off a very satisfactory afternoon's work.
