BROCK 'N ROLL! IT'S A PLUM DRAW FOR BRICKIES IN THE FA VASE!
THE Brickies’ reward for that terrific penalties win in the FA Vase at Baffins Milton Rovers on Saturday is the plummest tie they could possibly have had - at home to neighbours Brockenhurst. Set for October 10th, the game promises to be one of the highlights of the season. Brock are having an inconsistent season, having won three and lost three in the Wessex Premier and having a brief run in the Hants Senior Cup, winning 5-3 at Hamble, and tonking Lymo 4-1 at Grigg Lane, before crashing out 4-1 at home to Fareham. The League wins have come against Cowes Sports 2-0 away, Christchurch 1-0 at home, and Horndean 3-2 at home. The losses have come against Fareham 3-1 away, Bashley 4-2 away and 4-1 at home to Ham Rec. There was no doubting Brock’s calibre on Saturday, however, in their FA Vase 2nd qualifying round game - while the Brickies were Baffing the Rovers, Brock collected a clinical 3-0 win away to Frimley Green. One man who will be particularly keen to see this game is Brickies’ Director of Football Matt Parfect, who is a legend down Brock way for his many years of service to their club. Matt moved down the road to the GD Print Stadium at the start of the season. However, it won’t just be Matt looking forward to the game, it’s one for all the Brickies’ faithful as well. The only recent form guide is the game here in April, towards the end of New Milton’s stay in the Prem last season, ending in a fair-and-square 1-1 draw. Brock’s goal that day came from now New Milton winger, Noel McCarthy-Gardiner! A goal again from Noel this time would sure be handy! Winners on the day collect £825 from the prize fund, the losers £250.
