FIRST COMMUNITY DAY A SUCCESS

THE club’s first “Community Day” was a big success - although not quite as successful on the field as was hoped. With a lunchtime kick-off, in scorching heat, our Women’s team were level at 1-1 before slipping to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Hythe & Dibden. In the afternoon kick-off our Men’s Under-23s, with a couple of first-teamers getting a run-out, dominated long spells of the game against a competitive Verwood side, but couldn’t make the breakthrough and it ended 0-0. Nearest we came was when Niall Dixon had the ball in the net but was pulled up for a goalmouth foul, and later, Harry Swager’s effort was deflected onto the crossbar. However, again, nearly 20 players had a run-out, with manager Jamie Kay now having just one more friendly game before having to decide his first team squad for this Saturday’s Wessex League opener against Cove at the GD Print Stadium. That last friendly is against Laverstock & Ford at the GD on Tuesday (28th).
