LUCA LANDS THE WINNER IN LAST PRE-SEASON GAME

THE Brickies wrapped up pre-season with a smart 1-0 win away to Wessex Prem opposition, Laverstock & Ford. The winning goal came just before the half-hour from Luca Lane. He latched onto a long through ball down the right, cut in, and beat the keeper with an angled drive. The Brickies were denied a stone-bonk penalty in the second half, but in the end one goal was enough - with a blank scoresheet at the other end as a bonus. In his after-match comments, manager Jamie Kay said: “We came really well out of the blocks and probably should have scored even before we did. We’re pleased to come away with the win, but in pre-season it’s important not to get too high with the wins and equally not to get too low with losses. It’s more about what the team con do and where we’re at with the squad - identifying clearly what are our strengths and any weaknesses we still need to work on. But anyway, overall, pre-season has gone well for us, and there’s a great vibe in the dressing room” Next up it’s the start of the season-proper, with New Milton starting at home to Cove in the Wessex League Division One this Saturday (3pm).
