Preview: Whitchurch vs New Milton

Writer: Jamie TarrantJamie Tarrant

The Brickmakers travel to Barlow's Park tomorrow afternoon to take on Whitchurch United at a neutral venue after a significant issue with the home team's pitch. Matt Maybury's men are currently on a 20-match unbeaten run in the Wessex League Division One but were eliminated from the Wessex League Cup earlier this week.

In Maybury's absence, assistant Andrew Hardiman gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow.

"Saturday will pose a different kind of test to the one we faced against Fareham so we need to be prepared for the strengths Whitchurch will have. It will be a difficult game but we’ll stick to our game plan and look to be on the front foot from the off.
We have a few knocks in the group but Tuesday showed that we’ve got a squad where anybody can step in and the quality won’t drop. As always we look forward to the support we’ll receive and it’s hugely appreciated by us all."

Going into this game, New Milton Town holds a 5-point lead at the top of the table, while Whitchurch United find themselves in 19th place. Whitchurch were also eliminated from cup football during the week, losing to Romsey Town in the North Hampshire Cup on Wednesday night. Both sides will be looking to bounce back immediately.

The latest result is on the right. Last 10 league games only.

WHITCHURCH UNITED - LLLDWLDLLL

NEW MILTON TOWN - WWDWWWWWWW

Whitchurch United come into this game having picked up all three points in just one of their last ten games, losing their last three. New Milton Town, on the other hand, have just landed a new club record, having won seven league games on the bounce for the first time in the club's history. They will of course be hoping to extend that record tomorrow.

Head to Head - Whitchurch vs New Milton

Whitchurch United leads the way in the head-to-head record between the two sides, having won on 9 occasions, drawn twice, and lost 5 times. The Brickmakers won the reverse fixture this season 2-0, with goals from Callum McHale and Barney Stone. The last time New Milton travelled to Whitchurch, they were defeated 5-0.

Despite the heavy defeat last season, New Milton had won on their previous two visits.

Ground Details - Barlow's Park

Due to a major issue with the pitch at Whitchurch United, tomorrow's fixture will be played at Barlow's park, the home of Tadley Calleva Football Club.
