TOUGH TASK FOR THE BRICKIES IN FA VASE QUALIFYING

THE most important cup competition of the season for the Brickies is the FA Vase. Jamie Kay’s men had a bye to the second qualifying round where they have now been drawn away to Baffins Milton Rovers. That is a real challenge because Baffins only just missed out on promotion from the Wessex Premier Division last season and completed a double over New Milton - the 7-1 away game defeat was second only to the 9-0 collapse at Stoneham, while Baffins won 1-0 at Fawcetts. Rovers had to play a first round game, and they drew 0-0 at Fareham, before winning 5-3 on penalties. Last season the Brickies went down 2-1 away to Cowes Sports in the Vase qualifiers. Those who win their FA Vase Second Qualifying Round matches will pocket £725, and the losers receive £225 - plus a small share of the gate receipts. The Vase trophy itself is currently held by one of last season’s Wessex Prem opponents, Stoneham. So we are off to Pompey on Saturday September 12th for a 3pm start at Baffins' stadium on Portsea Island.
