New Milton Town Football Club is delighted to confirm Matty Davis's appointment as Head Coach of our newly formed Under-23s team.
A current first-team player, Matty has unfortunately spent much of the past season sidelined through injury and remains unavailable for selection. Despite this setback, he has remained heavily involved in the club and impressed everyone with his footballing knowledge, leadership qualities, and professionalism.
Matty is a bright and ambitious young coach, and we believe he is the perfect fit to lead this exciting new chapter in the club’s development pathway.
He provided us with the following quote.
“Since joining New Milton Town last season, I’ve felt nothing but pride to be part of this club. Spending most of the season out injured was extremely tough, but watching the lads go on to win the league was incredible.
It showed the character, belief, and quality that run through this club, which are exactly the foundations that the club wants to build upon.
When Chez (Matt Maybury) asked me to take on the Under-23s, it was an easy yes. It’s a fantastic opportunity to stay involved while I continue my recovery and a real privilege to be trusted with the role.
I’m grateful to Chez and Neil (Langridge) for believing in me. It’s a chance to give back to a club that’s shown great loyalty to me over the past 10 months, and to learn from two people with real experience and success in the game.
The creation of this Under-23 side follows an incredibly successful Under-18 setup and a league-winning season for the first team. Now, the goal is to build a clear and sustainable bridge between our youth section and senior football.
We want to provide young players with regular exposure to a competitive environment—helping them grow, develop, and be ready to take that next step when the opportunity comes. It’s a role that massively excites me, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Matty now turns his attention to preparing for the season ahead, starting with the upcoming Under-23s trials on Tuesday, May 20th, and Friday, May 23rd. He will work closely with club staff to build a strong pre-season schedule.
We’re excited to see Matty take on this new challenge and play a key role in shaping the Brickmakers' future.
