New Milton Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of experienced goalkeeper Shane Murphy, following his departure from Shaftesbury FC.
The 30-year-old arrives at the M.A. Hart Stadium with a strong reputation in the Southern League and beyond, having established himself as one of the region’s top shot-stoppers.
A commanding presence between the sticks, Murphy brings leadership, composure, and a wealth of non-league experience to our squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Murphy was a standout performer during his time at Shaftesbury, where he earned recognition as the Players’ Player of the Season for 2023/24—a clear reflection of his consistency, work ethic, and influence in the dressing room.
Speaking on the move, First Team Manager Matt Maybury said:
"Shane is a goalkeeper that I’ve admired for a really long time, especially after getting to know him at during his time spent at Shaftesbury. I’m delighted he has chosen to join us and he’ll be a real asset on and off the pitch."
Shane Murphy said the following about his move to New Milton:
“I’m really looking forward to coming in and joining the project, after meeting Matt and Dan I knew that the clubs ethics matched my own and that’s really important to me. I think it’s fantastic what the club achieved last year and all the work getting the community on board is a testament to everyone and it shows in the gates/support at the end of the season.
Coming to New Milton allows me to continue playing whilst my work demands have increased and I’m grateful for their understanding. Football goes full circle at times and coming back after ten years just feels right.
Can’t wait to meet all the lads and the people behind the scenes come June!"
Murphy will be vital as New Milton Town looks to build a strong campaign next season in the Wessex Premier. Please join us in giving Shane a warm welcome to the Brickmakers!
