New Milton Town defeated Wessex Premier side Brockenhurst 4-1 at Grigg Lane in a friendly this evening. Five of the club's Under-18s started the game and heavily featured throughout the 90 minutes.

Hector Rayner opened the scoring in the opening minutes as he cut inside to curl a low left-footed effort in the far corner. He began the game on the right wing before playing at left back in the second half.

Brockenhurst threatened throughout the first half, striking both the crossbar and post of Ollie Bull's goal frame, but the equaliser would finally arrive for the Badgers shortly before the break. A well-worked move down the right flank saw the home team level the game.

Brad Snelling and Toby Bailey were introduced for the second half and the latter would quickly give the Brickmakers the lead for a second time. His crisply hit left-footed shot from just inside the box beating the Brockenhurst goalkeeper.

Luca Lane then scored twice in ten minutes. On both occasions he was played through on goal down the middle before finishing calmly.

New Milton could - and probably should - have scored more with Brad Snelling's curling effort just missing the target and Heath Thornton coming close on two occasions after being played in down the left by Toby Bailey. He would also see a right-footed effort beaten away after a mazy run into the box.

The Brickmakers return to league action on Saturday away at Romsey Town.
